Thank you for reaching out to Rep. Sanchez’s office – we appreciate you taking the time to be involved in the legislative process.
Thank you also for taking the time to detail to your opposition to the portion of HB 2002 that protects gender-affirming care for minors, and for sharing these resources. HB 2002 only expands gender-affirming care without parental consent to youth over the age of 15, and does so to protect youth whose parents may not support their decision to seek such care. While I hear your concerns regarding puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, I think it is worth noting that every leading medical association in the United States supports such care, including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Psychiatry Association, and the Endocrine Society. This study from the Journal of Adolescent health, along with several other studies, supports a relationship between access to gender-affirming care and lower rates of depression and suicidality among transgender and nonbinary youth.
I appreciate your openness to having a transparent conversation about these issues. Rep. Sanchez will still be supporting HB 2002, but I have passed along your concerns.

On a positive note, at least I received a reply. The negative part is that trans lobbyists clearly got to Ms. Sanchez and her staffer before I did. They have swallowed trans activists' distortions, lies and half truths hook, line and sinker.
I expect the same is true of Congressman Earl Blumenauer and his staff.
So, you have this “admiral” who pretends to be a female (you know, because that’s how far off the tracks the train has gone) but you’re SHOCKED HE WOULD TRY TO HIDE, LIE, AND DECEIVE people?

Just sent to my representative, Pramila Jayapal in WA. I’m not sure how helpful that will be since she has a trans child, but happy to try.
Jayapal is the head of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, so the likelihood that she or any of her staffers will extend charity to your facts and arguments is just a hair's breadth away from nil.
It's not all bad news, though. Pramila Jayapal's sister Susheela Jayapal, also a hard-core progressive, recently lost her bid to be the Democratic Party's candidate for the electoral district that includes much of Portland. BTW, I am a Dem, but a moderate one.
Oh you are 100% correct. I live in one of the most progressive neighborhoods in the country in Seattle but am a moderate Dem too. I voted for Pramila and have generally liked her but there is no way she will do anything. I feel your pain about Portland too. I’m originally from there and yes…it’s a dumpster fire just like WA.
