ACTION ALERT: Contact Your Congressperson
Call for an investigation of the WPATH and White House scandal!
This week, another scandal has emerged with a bombshell report by Jesse Signal, “Unsealed Court Documents Show That Admiral Rachel Levine Pressured WPATH To Remove Age Guidelines From the Latest Standards of Care,” which has since been reported by the New York Times, the Economist, The Free Press, and other mainstream media.
Please join us in taking action to contact your Congressperson and share your concern about this growing scandal that links WPATH, the White House, John Hopkins University, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and more. You may use the letter below and adapt it as needed. Join us in calling for a bipartisan Congressional investigation into the lack of evidence backing gender-affirming care, and the collusion of U.S. Assistant Secretary of Health Rachel Levine’s in pushing WPATH to remove age restrictions on these irreversible interventions.

Dear Honorable Representative __________,
Thank you for your time and consideration of the issue of concern I am writing to you.
I am a lifelong Democrat who voted for you, and I hold dear our liberal big tent values of pluralism, compassion, equality, and respect for science.
In that spirit, I’m writing to you today to ask you to understand and take seriously the recent news that broke about the Assistant Secretary of Health, Dr. Rachel Levine; the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH); Johns Hopkins University; and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
In summary: After the state of Alabama banned gender-affirming care for minors, parents and doctors sued. This resulted in the subpoena and subsequent release of thousands of documents from WPATH, an organization that creates “Standards of Care” for gender dysphoric youth that many medical professionals in this country follow.
The court documents show that WPATH hired Johns Hopkins to conduct systematic reviews (SRs) for its most recent revised standards of care (SOC8). WPATH didn’t like the conclusions of the unbiased SRs, which showed no good evidence to support interventions like hormones and surgeries for minors. They then forced Johns Hopkins to suppress them. The HHS knew this. Then WPATH published SOC8, claiming they couldn’t conduct evidence reviews, and asserting studies supported gender-affirming care.
The American Academy of Pediatrics and Dr. Rachel Levine, Asst. Secretary of Health, then pressured WPATH to hurry the release of the not-evidence-based SOC8 and insisted that they remove all age limits for surgeries—not because the science supported this conclusion, but to protect against lawsuits and political backlash.
Every gender-distressed young person, every parent, was lied to—with the collusion of one of the most venerable academic institutions, the advocacy group that sets the standard, and the federal government. They were told these interventions were evidence-based and lifesaving, safe and effective, and none of it was true.
I ask you to take this situation and this unfolding scandal seriously. For far too long, those of us who have raised concerns, many of us life-long liberals, have been called bigots for stating simple truths: there is no strong evidence to support irreversible medical interventions for minors. I call upon you to take leadership in supporting a bipartisan investigation into gender-affirming care, and into Secretary Levine’s involvement in misleading the families of gender-distressed children. We cannot continue to support this just because Republicans are trying to ban it. Rather, we need to be part of reform.
I am happy to provide you with more evidence, more experts and more Democrats to speak with.
Thank you for you time and consideration,
(Your Name)
Thank you in advance for your participation in this action. As always, please leave us a comment and share if you sent your letter, and to whom! It would be excellent and inspiring to collect a list of the Representatives who we know have received a letter.
I had a zoom chat last summer with an aide to Senator Klobuchar and I have continued
to e-mail her updated Information to encourage the passage of the Protect Children’s Innocence Act. I just sent her your letter. Thank you for giving those of us affected by this terrible situation ways to help put a stop to it with you Action Alerts !
FYI: I finally heard back from my representative, Mike Levin (D), about 6 weeks after responding to your action alert with a letter asking him to try and understand the intricacies of this issue, specifically with regard to YOUTH gender medicine and the suppression of evidence. Sadly, though unsurprisingly, Mike Levin, opted to write me off as transphobic and leave it at that. I don't know how to upload a photo on here to show you his response, but in a nutshell, it consisted of 2 paragraphs outlining the Civil Right Act of 1964 and the Equality Act, reminding me that "no individual should live in constant fear of discrimination when they are employed, pursuing education, or using a public facility". He completely avoided addressing the topic of youth gender medicine and the suppression of evidence. This guy has kids, teens. Isn't he even a little curious about the possibility of scientifically questionable medical interventions for gender-distressed children and young people? How can this be?
