The NYTS did thoroughly corroborate Jamie Reed’s account of her work at Wash U. The fact that the NYTS thoroughly sourced her account and testimony with documents from the patients and internal records was done right, especially after the fiasco with Bari Weiss interviewing the mom...and with the son who complained that his mom was lying on Twitter and said the Free Press didn’t ask his permission and the kid came out on Twitter and tried to discredit the whole story including Reed. I call this article a major win. If Turban & GLAAD are MAAD they can go pound salt. She needed her testimony properly sourced and the NYTS did that (so did Singal he’s the real deal) and put her photo on front page. It’s pretty hard for TRAs to invalidate Reed now that the NYTS did a thorough investigation into her patient records & documents they wouldn’t have published the article with so much to lose if if Reed were to be discredited. This is our first whistleblower and she had the receipts. Thanks Jamie Reed!

Also...Erin Reed clearly doesn’t understand HIPPO 🦛

There weren’t any names of patients can someone explain Hippo to GLAAD. Thx

I submitted this to NYT referring to story about Jamie Reed and also today's story about explosive growth in gender surgeries:

I appreciate your 2 recent stories emphasizing the extraordinary growth of gender medicine and surgeries. I am a NYC clinical psychologist who has watched this medicalization trend with grave concerns. Whistleblowers and data are both needed to challenge the affirmation tsunami.

Sent to NYT: I want to sincerely thank you for the recent article highlighting mental health concerns and appropriate treatment for adolescents and young adults seeking "gender affirmative care." If I have an identity (which seems inexplicably required in this day and age), it is as a mom to 3 amazing and complex children (19, 17 and 14). For the last year, I've been part of a group of parents of transgender-identifying-children with no previous history of gender dysphoria (but all with histories that include some combination of depression, anxiety, same-sex attraction and autistic traits). I've come to know over 20 parents in this group and all-but-one have been life long progressive democrats. This is not a political issue as is so often portrayed. It is a mental health issue and I think will someday be revealed as a medical tragedy in which many psychologically unstable young people were allowed to pursue unnecessary hormonal and surgical treatments that came with great personal risk (including sexual dysfunction and sterility which most of these children could not possibly understand yet). I am thrilled to see a return to good journalism in which issues are viewed from multiple angles. I think it is worth giving voice to the detransitioners (or twice-transitioned) as they have a story to tell that is just as tragic (maybe more so) and deserves just as much empathy as those that managed to find relief in transition. Please keep up the good work!

Can GLAAD at minimum spring for some cool rims and maybe pimp their ride...last time wasn’t exactly a success...they need to splurge on some circus & fireworks what a bunch of chintzy cheap skate whiners. acts to get anyone’s attention this time. Maybe GLAAD can get Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein to sign their protest letter this time. Some National Enquirer journalists said they are too embarrassed to sign anything for GLAAD.

And yes I submitted my letter to the NYTS I can write those so fast now it only takes a minute. I noticed the NYTS did quit using Jackie T MD as as the Times “medical expert”.

I didn’t remember her name at first but yes, Jackie T’s coverage was awful, just the same old, lazy TRA talking points. It’s probably worthwhile to complain about the losers too.

I thanked them and will do so for any gender critical articles I read in the future.

I submitted a comment . I managed to use all the 500 words allowed. I mentioned though the article was brave in that it went where no many have dared to tread, there were ommisisons.

I gave some ideas for future articles> the dutch protocol was devised in response to poor results with the adult population, the suicide fallacy , the transing of our gay youth and how social transitioning is now the first step to transition and if left alone and given therapy and support- most will become comfortable with their sex and lastly I fully supported Jamie with my expericnec taking my child to a gender clinic.

Done! I just submitted feedback to the NYT. I wouldn't have done so without the info you provided, so thank you!

I submitted this comment:

I am a longtime NYT subscriber and follow your coverage of gender issues closely. As a pediatrician and a parent, I am very grateful to see this detailed, well-researched article detailing the complexity of this issue. I am very concerned that children and young people are being irrevocably harmed by current practice-- please continue this vitally important, courageous coverage.

And a day later received the following reply:

Good Morning,

Thank you for your message. We are glad that our article about Washington University’s youth gender clinic in St. Louis resonated with you and are grateful for your kind words, to say nothing of your taking the time to pass them along.

Thanks again for writing, and for your support of our journalism. We sincerely appreciate it.

FYI. I received the same reply. It’s canned.

Well that’s a bummer but also entirely unsurprising…

I have submitted comments as you recommend. It is not the first time I have commented on the NYT coverage of this issue, but it was good to be reminded to do it again, especially after this article. The first time I got a very pleasing reply from the newsroom manager.

Done! I thanked them!

The GLAAD truck seems to be stating falsehoods, ad hominem attacks, etc. I guess people make this political because if one doesn't appeal to political animosities or threaten people with being called bigots...people might actually look and realize that arguing against evidence based medical care for such a painful and complex condition is um...what's the word I'm looking for?....oh yes.....wrong.

Thank you for all you are doing!
