As a follow up to the New York Times piece yesterday, “How a Small Gender Clinic Ended up in a Political Storm,” we encourage subscribers to reach out to the newspaper today to thank them for the courage to investigate and report about concerns with gender clinic practices and medical interventions for gender distressed young people as a whole.
If you are a subscriber to the New York Times, you can use this link to provide them with feedback.
As they say at the top of this webpage, “We Want to Hear From You.” Let’s take them up on that offer!
Here is a sample of ideas for what feedback you can offer:
Introduce yourself and share a little about yourself and your concern about this issue. For example, “My name is Emily, I am a mother, a lesbian, and a lifelong liberal Democrat, and I am concerned with the current practice of medical intervention for gender-distressed children and teens.”
Thank them for the article and for their courage to investigate and report on those who are raising concerns about gender clinic practices for children and teens
Speak to any part of this issue where you are personally connected or where you would like to see them do more investigative reporting. For example, “I would like you to interview detransitioners to learn more about their experiences with doctors, therapists and clinics.”
If you do submit feedback, please leave us a note in the comments! We would love to hear what you have shared and use it to help inform future Action Alerts.
More to come soon!
I submitted this to NYT referring to story about Jamie Reed and also today's story about explosive growth in gender surgeries:
I appreciate your 2 recent stories emphasizing the extraordinary growth of gender medicine and surgeries. I am a NYC clinical psychologist who has watched this medicalization trend with grave concerns. Whistleblowers and data are both needed to challenge the affirmation tsunami.
I just submitted a comment to the NYT as you recommended. Thank you for the suggestion!
