This is one of the best and most nuanced pieces I've seen on this Substack. I am happily transsexual, but I often try to get other people to slow down and question things, including whether they are actually LGB and having trouble dealing with it. The T community needs to get better at this, fast.

Excellent piece. I will add on to this sentence about the narrative which has a tendency to, "marginalize those whose journeys do not fit this mold, such as individuals who experience regret, complications, or find that transitioning does not resolve underlying mental health challenges." Parents, who want the root cause of distress and mental health issues of their children to be addressed are also marginalized as well as demonized and cast out.

This morning, NPR carried a fawning interview of ADM Levine. Naturally, "she" parroted just about every important propaganda point of the trans lobby, e.g., plenty of research is being encouraged. (And never mind "#no debate" or WPATH'S suppression of the Hopkins Medicine review.) It being NPR, there was no mention of Levine's part in deleting the minimum age requirements in SOC-8 or her other contributions to efforts to trans away the gay.

I question transgender ideology in my book, in fact that is my entire purpose.

There *are* some people, like me, for whom medical reassignment was the necessary course to self actualisation, but I went through years of self questioning before I made my final decision.

The idea that questioning and examination of so called 'transgender identities' is in some way *transphobic* is preposterous.

If there was more questioning, examination and self reflection by those who newly *identify* as 'trans' then there would be a lot fewer detransitioners and a lot less transition regret.

To whom you are attracted sexually is purely subjective and therefore cannot reasonably be contested by an outside observer.

Where you decide to live your life on a spectrum of superficial, stereotypical male to female attributes (and we all do) is also purely subjective and similarly cannot be questioned.

However, your biological sex reflects an objective reality which cannot be changed by your subjective personal view and futile attempts to do so can result in serious health impacts to you as well as harms to members of the sex you are impersonating (primarily women).

Others who are grounded in objective reality should never be forced to accept your subjective version of your actual biological sex.

Finally, it's past time for the LGB community to separate themselves from the trans activists who are trying to take away the rights of women to fairness in sports and to privacy and safety in their restrooms, locker rooms and prisons. They also advocate for the chemical and surgical mutilation of children many of whom would grow up gay.

Their actions are evil and the

understandable negative reaction to the harm they are causing is spilling over to innocent people who are just going about their business, marrying and leading their lives.

This is a very articulate and brave piece that will hopefully reach young-adults who are grappling with both their gender- identity and simply who they are as humans in the world. I am so proud of your courage in the face of what is often a hostile climate. If we are not allowed to critically think through these major life choices, facing backlash for even expressing doubt or regret, how can we ever know for certain that we weren’t coerced into a certain path? Bravo and thank you so much for your words.
