Yes, and. Over on Broadview, Lisa Selin Davis offers some really important edits. And, as we know, some NYT readers may be persuaded by the absurd push-back from GLAAD and "the contributors" such that they are unable to read Azeen's writing with as much openness as we'd hope. What do you think?

yes, I also think the article was written in a 'waffling' way rather than a vindication of Jaime Reed.

sadly, this is probably the only way NYT would publish it (where they want to go on record as providing the evidence, but not get pushback from activist readers)

The reason the Times article may seem waffling...could it be because of thing like this?

"Why Did “On The Media” Stoke The Moral Panic Against Innocent New York Times Journalists Rather Than Investigate It?

Journalism and media criticism both require skepticism"

Yep. That OTM was an extraordinarily one-sided piece of reporting - apparently about one-sided reporting!

Thank you for this great summary of key points!

And below are the edits by Lisa Selin Davis....the truth is coming out so so slowly for those kids who are currently still not getting accurate information about their distress, much less informed treatment...

Young people need to be told that their very painful distress is not well understood and then compassionately offered support and explanations of what is and isn't known--and informed mental health support first off--

and all those MD's doing the interventions--if this works so great, where are the 5 and 10 year outcomes? (I don't want 3 year outcomes for breast cancer treatments...too short...likewise for gender distress...the "we don't know how people do" is not really the basis for medicalizing thousands of young people, especially given the really quite shocking outcomes of Chen et al. 2023, which were supposed to justify these interventions and yet didn't even release most of the measurements they said they'd do--why not-were they not what they expected?-- and had 2/315 young people tragically die.)

This just came into my email....from Erin Reed. Thoughts?

"This Is What Transgender Eradication Looks Like

Trans teachers fired. Trans inmates detransitioned. Adult care banned. Allies killed. We are entering into a new phase of anti-trans politics, and eradication is the goal."

Erin does not tend to be accurate about facts or make logical arguments, based on reading some of that blog in the past.
