The New York Times began its 2024 election year special coverage section with sections devoted to and titled:
Who is Running?
Issues Tracker
G.O.P. Primary Calendar
Iowa Caucuses: What to Know
The Issues Tracker page goes onto inform readers where the GOP candidates stand on the following topics:
Abortion, China, Climate Change, Crime and Guns, Democracy, Economic Policy, Education, Health Care, Immigration, Impeaching Biden, Israel, Labor and Unions, Social Security and Medicare, Transgender Rights, Trump Investigations, and the War in Ukraine.
Here is the explanation of what “Transgender Rights” means to the NYT for the 2024 Election:
Upon review, it was determined that this section had regrettably not been edited for biases and needed some revisions. It’s early in the election cycle, maybe they just need some practice.
We are happy to share with you our updated version:
The push to create fair laws, rules, and guidelines for women, children, and those who identify outside of their sex category has animated the American public. States have required that irreversible medical practices like puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgery are reserved for adults and have been replacing the informed consent model with a high quality standard of care. States have protected women’s rights and interests in sports and public accommodations; and allowed all trans identified people to participate in sports according to their sex. States have curated library books and classroom discussions about “gender identity” and sexual orientation to age appropriate parent informed offerings. Several presidential candidates have endorsed similar policies at the federal level as they recognized the popular support across party lines.
It is going to be a long year….
The NYT comment. Does anyone remember Pravda?
Every time The Washington Post runs a story about censorship of so-called "LGBTQ+" books, I post a comment that goes something like this:
"I am a Democrat, a Biden voter, a gay man, a senior citizen and grandfather to a minor teen. I am opposed to giving minors access to books or other materials in school libraries or public facilities that normalize the scientifically baseless notion that boys and girls should explore gender in order to decide whether they are actually girls or boys, respectively, or no gender at all."
Though my comment receives a few likes, it inevitably attracts critics who mount personal attacks and heap abuse on the position I have stated. If I hadn't witnessed it, I would not believe that the sort of people who defend gender identity ideology are as hostile and uncharitable as Trumpists.
