The LGBT Courage Coalition, a group of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender adults concerned with pediatric gender medicine adamantly disagrees with the statement today from the Colorado Democratic Party Chair condemning a new group called “Democrats for an Informed Approach to Gender (DIAG).”
Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib (@Shadmurib on X) has erroneously called DIAG anti-transgender, hate-filled, and transphobic.
Seeking an evidence-based response to gender distress, especially for children and adolescents, is a position grounded in the basic principles of the Democratic party.
The current medical practices in the state of Colorado include the widespread use of puberty blockers, cross sex hormones and surgery in minors. It is these practices that conflict with the values of the Democratic party.
The LGBT Courage Coalition was co-founded by Jamie Reed, a lifelong Democrat and a whistleblower from within the field of pediatric gender medicine.
She states, “it is neither liberal nor progressive to medically transition a child. It is not kind; it is not compassionate. It is not evidence-based, and it isn’t safe. It is profoundly harmful and time for democrats to stop making this a political issue and start doing the right thing.”
The LGBT Courage Coalition encourages the Colorado Democratic Party leadership, including Shad Murib, to meet with fellow Democrats and the LGBT Community to discuss the real issues within the Democratic party regarding pediatric gender medicine.

As Gordon Guyatt, who has done an enormous amount to increase the evidentiary standards of the medical establishment, told me: “You’re doing harm to transgender people if you don’t question the evidence. I believe that people making any health decisions should know about what the best evidence is, and what the quality of evidence is. So by pretending things are not the way they are — I don’t see how you’re not harming people.”
