Kansas Updates

Democrat Flips to Vote for Sanity in Kansas

Kansas is one of only two remaining states with Republican-controlled legislatures that still permit the use of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries for minors. The other state is Alaska.

The Kansas State Senate passed Senate Bill 63 (House Bill 2071 is its counterpart in the House) on Thursday by a vote of 32-8. Senator David Haley, a Democrat, joined the Republican majority in voting for the bill, making it bipartisan.

Please consider sending a brief thank you email to Senator Haley at David.Haley@senate.ks.gov.

Governor Laura Kelly, a Democrat, will have 10 days to decide whether to veto, sign, or allow the bill to become law without her signature once it reaches her desk.

We will continue to monitor the situation in Kansas and provide updates as we work to see another state protect children and families in this way.
