That is the truth. I just met with a mom whose son now self-ID's as a woman. Althought she was very distressed, she just affirmed. She did no research, read no books, watched no films, did nothing because she didn't know anything besides affirmation existed.
If one were to generate a word cloud from the mainstream media's credulous reporting on trans news, "book banning" would be the second most prominent phrase after "trans kids."
The way we got here is that some legislatures and local elected bodies outside the progressive culture sphere got a good look at the "LGBTQIA2S+ books" section in local schools and children's sections of libraries and realized they serve to indoctrinate youth on gender identity ideology.
One need not be named Hilary Cass to know that such works are anything but evidence based. Queer "theory" is at best a philosophy for which there is not a shred of empirical evidence. So responsible adults in those places did the right thing. They made sure that materials about gender were not available to minors in schools or children's collections in libraries.
Trans activists and trans allies - including, unfortunately, almost every elected Democrat in the land - lost their minds, as did the mainstream media. Who knew so many people were hostile to evidence-based educational materials?
